Email services are boon to us for sending mails to our friends, colleagues and others. With the invention of Email services, old postal mail services becomes an old fashion. Now almost all of us have at least one email account with a reputed email service provider. We are using emails for sharing information, sharing resources and for sharing documents. But most of the email service have a file size limit that you can attach with the mail. For Gmail it is only 25MB, other email services area also offering same space as part of their free service. Mail.com offering 50MB, a bit more than other services. But you may experienced some difficulties with this little storage space, when sending big files with emails. Wondering how to do it?
For every problem there is a solution for it. Here we have only 25MB or a maximum of 50 MB with an email service provider. You have to do two things to send large files.
Method-1: You can split the big file into pieces, each having file size less than the allowable limit. You can send only by one and ask the receiver to collect and join them. If it is images, or a lot of small documents, you can adapt this method. You can compress the files and split the compressed files in to pieces and send them to someone and ask him to merge the Zip files and to un-compress to view it. You can use a file compression utility like WinZip to compress and spit zipped files. Winzip helps you to easily create Zip files (.zip or .zipx) that are split into smaller pieces of a size that you specify. You can use the split Zip feature to break large files into smaller pieces that can be downloaded separately.
You can use a free compression tool like 7-Zip to do it.
Most of the mail services have a file storing solution attached with it. In the case of Gmail, Google Drive is there, for Outlook, OneDrive is there. There is also a dropbox solution is there.
